R. Mark Green, M.R.E., M.C.M.
Director
The Decatur Avondale Children’s Choir is under the direction of R. Mark Green.
Mr. Green holds an Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, and two Master’s Degrees in both Music and Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He has over 40 years of choral directing experience.
Mr. Green holds active memberships in The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and The Chorister’s Guild.
Affectionately known as “Mr. Mark,” Mr. Green currently serves full time as the Pastor to Senior Adults and Youth & Children's Music at First Baptist Church of Decatur. He and his wife, Cindy have been residents of Avondale Estates, Georgia since 2006. They have two married sons and four grandchildren.
Gus Godbee, MS
Associate Director

Aside from being the Associate Director of the DACC, Mr.Godbee is currently the Choral Director at Parkview High School in Lilburn, a position that has been described as one of the top ten in the state of Georgia.
Previously, Mr.Godbee worked as Choral Director at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell (past 7 years), and Choral Director Rockdale High School in Conyers (9 years). Mr. Godbee has a great track record of top scores (“1”s or “Superior Ratings”) at Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE). He has also helped many singers prepare for and get accepted to sing in the GMEA All-State Chorus.
Mr.Godbee received his Graduate of the University of Georgia with dual degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education in 2007, and his Master’s degree of Music Education from Auburn University with an emphasis in Choral Conducting in 2013.
His professional experience includes:
Singer/Soloist with the Atlanta Opera (for over 16 years)
Cantor at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in downtown Atlanta (3 years)

Accompanist

Sheila Hendricks, Decatur Avondale Children's Choir accompanist, holds a Music Degree from Shorter College in Rome and a Master’s Degree in Music Theory from Georgia State University in Atlanta. Mrs. Sheila has over 25 years of experience accompanying and directing choirs. She serves part-time as the Accompanist at First Baptist Church Avondale Estates.
